Revival Heritage Tour

with
Henry Blackaby, Richard Owen Roberts, & Ron Owens
(July 24-August 8, 2008)

Over the centuries, England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales have been touched by God in Revival. We’ll not only visit some of these sites, but on several occasions will invite local believers to join us in services led by our tour leaders.

Also joining us from time to time will be men and women of revival such as Brian Edwards, author of “Revival: A People Saturated With God;” Vernon Higham, pastor of Heath Evangelical Church in Cardiff, Wales; Colin and Mary Peckham of the Hebrides Revival; Tom Shaw, Ulster Revival historian, and others.

Names like George Mueller, John and Charles Wesley, George Whitefield, John Knox, Charles Haddon Spurgeon, John Bunyan, John Newton, Evan Roberts, Robert Murray McCheyne, William Chalmers Burns, James Robe, John Livingstone will come to life.

We’ll be participating in a Sunday morning service at the Kirk O’Shotts, between Glasgow and Edinburgh, where in June, 1630, John Livingstone spoke from Ezekiel 36 and 500 were converted, beginning a mighty moving of God that lasted for years. In Cambuslang we’ll stand on ground made holy on August 15, 1742, when 20,000 attended a communion service and heard George Whitefield preach. Hundreds were converted. We’ll gather in the graveyard of the Old Burns Parish Church where, on September 22, 1839 William Chalmers Burns preached from the grave of James Robe to over 12,000. Many hundreds were converted. It was here that George Whitefield had also preached to thousands.

Among the many highlights will be a visit to Moriah Chapel in Loughor, Wales, the very place, where, on November 6, 1904, the Holy Spirit descended with great fire in a service where Evan Roberts was preaching.

Places like Coleraine, Kells, and Ballymena, in County Ulster, that are just places on the map, will also take on new meaning as our leaders, along with Rev. Tom Shaw, pastor and revival historian, take us back to those days when God came in revival to Northern Ireland. And all along the way we will be praying that God might do it again in these lands that have forgotten, and have again turned their backs on God.
